Edilberto Restino

Edilberto graduated in sociology and political sciences, and did postgraduate studies in international politics. Edilberto also studied Portuguese language and literature at the São Paulo State University USP.

Vegan since he was 18 years old, Restino looks out for equal rights to every sentient being. Those ideas come out in his films and books. When he was boxing, his coach used to say that he was going to die in the ring, as Vegetarianism and Veganism was not very well know in Brazil at that time.

In Brazil he worked as an actor for 13 years and was director of communications of the NGO Projeto Planeta Verde (Project Green Planet) and vice president of the NGO SOS Fauna Brasil, an organization that fight against poachers in Brazil's forests. Currently he is a 'filmmaker with 21 awards as director, cinematographer, screenwriter, producer, winning in 17 international film festivals with films shortlisted for student academy awards (Oscar) and long listed for Bafta shorts among his 60 nominations. Most of the films are his own scripts, that he is converting into books.

Edilberto had the honour of having his first film shown at the British Society of Cinematography among the eight best of 2008. His script Timeless Eye and his film Red Letter had inspired 3 major productions in Hollywood and a TV series (Credit given by IMDB film database site).

In 1984 his first book "Ser, nao Estar" won a competition of poetry. In 1999 his second book, Coh-Onírico (Dream's Element) was published and in 2014 he published "Tao, Tango & Temptation" a feel good story about a lady who arrives in a small village to teach tango only for the men, splitting the village in two factions as the priest and the women are trying to get rid of her.

In the UK he had lived and worked with adults with learning disabilities for 4 years in charity organizations, as a two years sabbatical that extended to four, and in 2018 and 2019 he lived in a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery working as a volunteer while learning meditation and mindfulness
