Claire Thompson

Claire Thompson is an author, psychological therapist, nature conservationist and mindfulness teacher. She founded Mindfulness of Nature (www.mindfulness-of-nature.com) and leads mindfulness workshops, courses, holidays and one-to-one sessions around the world for a variety of audiences with the aim of pursuing my passion for reconnecting people with themselves and the natural world. She also works for the NHS as a Psychological Well-Being Practitioner in Cambridge and believes that many of the well being and mental health challenges we currently experience are natural responses to our disconnection from ourselves and the rest of the natural world. In this context, she believes that reconnecting with ourselves and the rest of nature by paying attention to life within us and around us is the key to bringing forth a happier, more authentic and sustainable world.

Claire graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in Natural Sciences, Zoology from the University of Cambridge and has dedicated 10 years of her career to date to the protection of our natural world. She has worked for the World Land Trust, an international conservation organisation based in Suffolk and for BirdLife International, the world’s largest partnership of nature conservation organisations, based in Cambridge, UK.

Claire has over 10 years’ experience of mindfulness, meditation and yoga. She's facilitated meditation classes at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre and led a number of retreats and courses at Trigonos Retreat Centre in Snowdonia, Sharpham House in Devon and in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, the Wildlife Trusts and the National Trust. She's also led a large number of capacity building and knowledge-exchange workshops in my work for the World Land Trust and BirdLife International, working with NGOs from across the world.
