J. Abram Barneck is an author of suspense, fantasy, science fiction, and poetry.
He spent the first part of his life living just outside of a small Utah town called Roosevelt. As a child, he spent the summers in the cottonwood trees lining the creek that ran through our twenty-seven acres. He had a vast imagination and and spoke whatever he thought--Yes, that often got him in trouble.
While he grew up in the sticks, he also grew up with a computer (his family bought their first Adam computer in 1984). He became a gamer/computer geek kid who also loved the outdoors, horses, and shooting .22 rifles, and just being a country boy.
He finished the Lord of the Rings at the end of fifth grade and knew then that someday he would write fantasy.
He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's in English with a Creative Writing emphasis. He spent three years as part of Leading Edge Magazine. He trained under the master writer, David Wolverton (Farland). He has attended and presented at writers' conferences such as LTUE and at FanX. He was the founder and President of Utah Fantasy Authors.
Some of the authors that have inspired him include: J. R. R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Jim Butcher, Stephenie Meyer, David Wolverton (Farland), B. Justin Shier, and Dean Koontz, and of course every author he has ever read.
He lives in Utah with his wife and four children.
