I am a 56 year old layperson and a long time student of God’s word. I recently retired after nearly 30 years as a successful businessman at the helm of a multi-million dollar company. During those years, I often witnessed the undeniable hand of God in my life and in my business. In recent years, however, as I read the entire Bible many times in many translations, God’s Word began to reveal to me how I had formed many false notions about his nature and his loving involvement in every area of my life. It is a large portion of this transforming revelation that is presented in Who’s Your Father?
Over the years, I have served in virtually every possible lay position in the church. I have led ministries, taught innumerable classes and Bible studies, and chaired many boards. As a ministry to the church, I have operated a second business of designing and/or installing audio video systems for churches for the past 20 years. This ministry includes the personal training of volunteer operators for these systems. This consulting business has provided me with an invaluable opportunity to meet, experience, and worship with God’s people from many different denominations and backgrounds.
As a result of being so thoroughly immersed in the church from a very young age, I possess a firm grasp on the teachings of the church of our day. Moreover, this considerable experience within the church has provided me with the rare and valuable perspective of a layman who is well-acquainted with the various views of the issues confronted in this work as well as an insightful, experiential understanding of the emotional responses to these issues by the laypeople who sit in the congregation each week. Indeed, I have intimately experienced both the problem and the solution. Who’s Your Father? is written to share this knowledge with God’s people, and it will enlighten them as to how far the church has deviated from the teachings of the leaders of the Reformation who established the Protestant church.
