Craig D. McLaughlin

Craig McLaughlin is a journalist, essayist, and storyteller. He appears frequently at storytelling venues throughout the country, and particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area where he resides. A former editor of the San Francisco Bay Guardian, he has won numerous awards as an investigative reporter, news editor, and memoirist. He has also taught creative nonfiction as an adjunct faculty member at The Evergreen State College.

He was born with hemophilia A, a bleeding disorder. During high school he lived on an animal research facility know simply as "the tiger farm." In his 20s, he contracted HIV from contaminated blood products.

McLaughlin has held executive positions in newspaper publishing, higher education, and state government. He holds a Master of Journalism degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Wesleyan University.
