Allan Simpson was born in Dundee, Scotland and grew up in Glasgow.
He graduated with a degree in hotel management from Queens College in Glasgow before working in hotels in London.
On his return to Scotland he ended up in Inverness ("we were aiming for the central belt and sort of overshot..."), where he's lived ever since.
His career saw him working in hotel general and marketing management, leaving to earn an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Strathclyde. After which he started his first business.
Since then he has worked with a wide variety of businesses, from fish farming to fine art, helping to develop and implement effective marketing systems.
He describes his job as, "making the phone ring". After all, marketing is worth nothing if it's not getting a response.
Nowadays he's still helping businesses get to grips with marketing. Just to prove that he can still do it himself, he also looks after the UK and Ireland for a US based hotel software company. His latest responsibilities include helping his businesses get to grips with GDPR.
