Karen Scarpulla

From a young age Karen always felt a sense of responsibility to make a difference in the world.

When Karen was 18 months old, she fell from the third floor hallway of her parents’ apartment. Miraculously, she survived and only sustained bruised kneecaps and a large bump on her forehead. When she grew older, she realized she had been spared in what could have been a horrible accident. She became aware that her life was a gift, and her true path was to make a difference.

Karen’s teachers always told her she would be a writer. She scoffed at the thought as she entered college and pursued a degree in Mass Communications. She enjoyed a career in advertising and marketing, married and raised a family. She also made time to pursue charitable work; however, she still felt strongly that she had a larger purpose to fulfill.

Fast forward to 2011, her ex-husband is dying of cancer, and Karen and her children move back in with him to live as a family while he battles the disease. It is during this experience that Karen envisions her true path. She realizes that all of her experiences, good and bad, and her career pursuits have aligned for this defining moment.

Her strengths as a writer and communicator have allowed her to share her story of death and forgiveness. It is a profound journey and one that she feels compelled to share as an author and speaker. She continues to write additional books, sharing with her audiences and friends how to walk beyond tragedy.
