Sally Edwards

Sally Edwards spent her formative teenage years at an all-girls Catholic boarding school in a northern suburb of Chicago, IL. Shy and quiet on the outside but always laughing on the inside, Sally Edwards knew that one day she would pursue her dream of taking the stage and making people laugh.

Not knowing the exact route to take, Sally Edwards pursued a psychology degree at both St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana and Denison University in Granville, Ohio. However, it wasn't until one year after college graduation that she came to the threshold of her education in comedy. That was the day she walked through the doors of Chicago's Second City - the legendary training ground for improvisational humor - the home of many of the alums of Saturday Night Live. Sally Edwards knew that she had finally discovered the pathway to her dream.

Two years of brilliant instruction from Del Close at Second City (Del Close later went on to direct Saturday Night Live) prepared Sally Edwards to take the next step towards her goal of performing solo. Zanies Comedy Club opened up only a block away and featured the best and brightest of stand up comedians. Sally Edwards walked down Wells Street in Chicago on a warm autumn night and signed up to perform on "New Talent Night." That first time performing alone on a comedy stage was the thrill that gave Sally Edwards impetus to climb to a very successful career delivering clean humor.

Ten years ago, Sally Edwards made the transition from corporate comedian to keynote speaker and motivational humorist. Understanding how important humor has been in her life, Sally Edwards now speaks nationally and demonstrates the positive effects that laughter has on the mind, soul and community spirit.
