Ben Langdon is an Australian author whose stories explore the collision between the ordinary and the extraordinary. Writing across crime fiction, young adult fiction and speculative fiction, he is interested in the people behind the stories we tell, the choices that shape us, and the extraordinary things that can emerge from everyday lives.
Ben was awarded the **2026 Roderick Centre Fellowship for Remote and Regional Writers** through Varuna, the National Writers’ House, for his crime fiction novel *Harlow*. The fellowship recognises his work as a regional Australian writer and provides dedicated time to develop his writing.
His published work includes *The Miranda Contract*, a young adult superhero novel set in Melbourne, and *The Adventures of Charlie Conti: Small Sacrifices*, written with his daughter, Eliza Langdon. He has also written fiction for adults, including *Forget, to Live* and *The Scoundrel’s Wife*, and edited the speculative fiction anthologies *This Mutant Life* and *Bad Company*.
Alongside his writing, Ben has a background in education, bookselling and bespoke publishing. He has presented at events including Oz Comic-Con and the Hero Round Table, speaking about diversity in superhero fiction, empathy, representation and the importance of helping readers find themselves in the characters they encounter.
Ben lives and writes in regional Victoria, Australia, where his connection to local communities and the stories of regional life continues to inform his work.
