Eric Scott Sills

Dr. Sills completed his reproductive endocrinology fellowship at Cornell Univ after obstetrics-gynecology residency at NYU Downtown Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. His 150+ scientific & policy papers have appeared in JAMA, Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, BMJ and others. Scott serves as reviewer or board member for 40+ medical journals and is thought to be the only American to lecture at both West Point and Tehran, since 1979. His publication on successful U.S. asylum claims for forced sterilization victims outlined cases with credible evidence of discrimination, where China policy on pregnancy termination would await them upon repatriation. Scott's other highly cited priority papers include the first reported IVF surrogacy births in Ireland (2008), the first description of Irish births from dual anonymous gamete donation (2010), the world’s first report on IVF births in premature ovarian failure using oocytes donated from a twin sister (2010), and the first reported deliveries after frozen surgically retrieved sperm in Ireland (2011). While affiliated to the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, Scott refined a two-stage sequential embryo transfer technique (2012) with healthy term livebirth, another national first. Previously he chaired an initiative among Arab & Israeli fertility clinics across 13 countries. His analysis of contested status of banked embryos in Ireland correctly anticipated the Supreme Court decision in the landmark Roche case. Scott is also a noted authority on the Essure device—the recalled contraceptive coil now at the center of an agreed $1.6B payment to more than 35,000 women. In 2019 he received U.S. trademark control for FertiGen®, a hormone-free menopause reversal treatment based on condensed platelet cytokines. His paper on Covid-19 and early miscarriage was among the first to link hypercoagulation with failed embryo implantation as a key feature of the pandemic's hyperinflammatory process.
