Henry Radoff

I am Henry V. Radoff. I reside in Houston, Texas where I have practiced law since 1969. When I was a child I grew up with dogs but none were lap dogs, all outside dogs. After my first marriage, my wife did not want a dog so I resorted to parakeets. When I remarried, my current wife Marla always had a dog and wanted another. After five years because of the circumstances as I tell in the story in the book, we acquired Chancey. The book itself is really a journal I was keeping relating each event in how Chancey became part of the family and subsequent events in his life and ours. I can truly say that one of the greatest things to happen to Marla and Me is Chancey. Enjoy. My latest book "Breaking Free, A Journey for Survival" is based upon a true event whereby a dog takes survivors of the Holocaust over the Swiss Alps to a survivor's camp. I originally wrote with Kris White this as a script entitled "The Guide" which has won numerous awards. The premise is the same but the novel expands the story. Recently it was advertised in the New York Times and has received a great review. Having taught a Holocaust course to teenagers for over thirty years and collecting survivor's stories many of which have been heard before, this one stood out as never been told to the Shoah Project or by a survivor speaking at an event. That is why I chose to tell it. I retired in 2018 after practicing fifty years and wrote and published books. My latest book "Where the Squirrels Run" is a journal of the pandemic covering four hundred and one days of what I experienced and observed each day until there was no conclusion of what I had hoped to be the end of the Pandemic.
