Aaron Deter-Wolf

Aaron Deter-Wolf is the Prehistoric Archaeologist for the State of Tennessee's Division of Archaeology. His research focuses predominately on preserving and understanding ancient Native American sites in the Cumberland River Valley of Tennessee, as well as studies of foodways archaeology in the Southeastern United States. Aaron is also a leading researcher in the archaeological study of tattooing. His research includes efforts to identify tattooing tools in archaeological collections, non-destructive documentation of preserved tattoos on archaeological human remains, and studies recreating and testing ancient and historical tattooing implements.
