Dan Conover

Dan Conover's newspaper career spanned a quarter century -- most of it spent in Charleston, SC.

He's a former cavalry sergeant who patrolled the Iron Curtain in the 1980s, South Carolina's 2005 Journalist of the Year. and a former city editor at The (Charleston) Post and Courier. His short fiction was published in four print anthologies, and his novels. "Bokur” and "Another Goddamn Novel About the Collapsing Quantum Multiverse,” are available via Amazon. His non-fiction book "Growing a New Johns Island" was published in 2014.

Conover wrote the first six novels in the slipstream epic-fantasy series The Darbas Cycle under the pen name D.C. McElroy. He finished the series’ second trilogy in 2023, and is currently at work on its third and final trilogy. Conover and his wife, Janet, took up farming in the Southern Appalachian foothills in 2016, but have since retired from commercial growing.
