Jerry Greenfield

Jerry Greenfield's latest book, "He Lost it in the Catskills" is a novel based on his experiences working as a waiter in the Jewish resort area of New York's Catskill Mountains. The area was popularly known as the Borscht Belt or the Jewish Alps. His novel recalls the culture and unconventional people who worked at -- or were guests at -- these now bygone hotels. In fact, Jerry's family, the Rubels, owned a hotel in the 1930s and 1940s which became Gilbert's...a well known summer resort near the town of South Fallsburg.

His writing has been published in national magazines as diverse as "Flight Training," "Cat Fancy," and "TV Guide." He has co-authored two books about the Vietnam war: the bestselling memoir "Maverick---The Personal War of a Vietnam Cobra Pilot," and, in July, 2014 "DASPO -- An Unhinged Novel of Vietnam," co-authored with former Army 1LT Ronald Fenster.

As The Wine Whisperer, Jerry has published "Secrets of the Wine Whisperer," and has taught wine seminars at the prestigious Epicurean Theater in Tampa, Florida. He is former Wine Director of the Southwest Florida Wine & Food Festival, which has become one of the top 10 charity wine events in the country. He also teaches a wine course at Florida Gulf Coast University.

"Everyone who becomes passionate about wine has had some sort of epiphany," he says. Jerry's came when a friend poured him a glass of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc back in 1995. "It was all over after that," he recalls. Jerry and his wife Debi started tasting, collecting, and attending major wine events. Before they knew it they had a climate controlled wine cellar in their home, filled with hundreds (and hundreds) of bottles. No money, but lots of wine.

His most recent wine book, "Ask the Wine Whisperer," was published in November of 2018. It is a compilation of articles he has written for various newspapers and magazines, divided into essays about "The Grapes, The Ground, and the Guy or Gal who makes the wine."

Jerry has been known to drink beer at sporting events.
