Daniel de Roulet

Daniel de Roulet is Professor of English at Irvine Valley College in California. He is the co-founder of The Student Caring Project, which seeks to be a resource to professors, parents and students by helping them to understand students' strengths and challenges in the college classroom.

The author writes, "My desire is to bring a sense of personal care into the classes we teach, helping students to become better thinkers and writers who are equipped for the world after college. Nothing is quite like participating in a student's discovery or rediscovery of education--this, and my continued learning in a community of students, motivates me to teach."

After receiving a Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Irvine in 1992, de Roulet has been a college professor and administrator and currently teaches writing and literature. He has led revisions to general education and first-year curricula, received undergraduate teaching awards, been an academic senate president, worked on a plan for local education in southern Ethiopia, and coordinated a writing program for first-in-their-family, first-year college students. His professorial experience is at four-year universities, a four-year college, and at community colleges.
