Jochen Wiesigel

Jochen Wiesigel, author and journalist, studied Fine Art and German language and literature in the GDR. He went on to become a teacher and wrote stories for children and adults in his free time. After completing further studies at the Institute of Literature in Leipzig he decided to become an independent author. During the extraordinary period following German reunification, he began to work as a journalist and story writing was pushed aside. Wiesigel was employed as a newspaper correspondent by Associated Press, where he worked for nearly 20 years. His articles were published in many regional and national newspapers in Germany and also abroad, in the US for instance. To date, he has published twelve books for children and adults, nine of which were co-authored with his wife Anne. His first books “Wir wollten doch alles anders machen” and “Freudensprünge” have been published several times and “Der Sonneberger Reiter” has even been translated into Japanese.
