Barkley S Thompson

Barkley Thompson serves as rector of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Previously, for ten years he served as dean of historic Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, Texas. Barkley's books are “Elements of Grace,” published by Trinity Books in 2013; “In the Midst of the City: The Gospel and God's Politics” published by Bright Sky in 2018; “How Can We Know The Way?: Reflections on Belief, Salvation and Eternal Life,” published by Palmetto Publishing in 2023; and “The Ache for Home: Stories and Sermons of Family and Place,” also by Palmetto and released on June 24, 2025. Barkley has also published in numerous magazines and journals. Barkley holds degrees from Hendrix College, The University of Chicago, and The Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. He is married and has two grown children.
