Hello!

I’m the author of two mystery novels, THE LOST STORYELLER and THE HAUNTING OF HERO’S BAY.

I love to combine playful, compelling plots, deep characters, and a touch of magic to create stories that – though not without their darker moments – are full of heart and hope. I’m often inspired by myths and fairy tales, which I use as starting points to explore new narratives.

My latest novel, THE HAUNTING OF HERO’S BAY, follows a young man who retreats to a remote seaside town to escape his heartbreak, only to find himself drawn into the events of a summer long past involving smuggling, forbidden love and a cursed painting. It’s set in Devon, where I grew up, and was inspired by some of the stories I read there, including work by Enid Blyton, Daphne Du Maurier and R.D. Blackmore.

In 2007, I moved up to Edinburgh to do a master’s degree in Creative Writing, and – aside from a few years in Geneva working as a ghostwriter – have lived here ever since. When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading (avidly), running (slowly) and having lots of adventures with my two young daughters.
