Alastair Batchelor

Alastair Batchelor, born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1941. (That does seem like a long time ago now) Attended the North East Valley Primary School, Otago Boy's High School, King's High School and the Otago University.

Interests include music, reading and writing and nature. He began learning piano at five years of age, and later singing, going on to perform in operas, solo performances and much later in life as a Musical Director.

In 2002, Alastair went for a month long holiday in Thailand with his Thai wife, and fell in love with the culture and the life style. with the result he moved here in 2004 and stayed until the present.

For six years Alastair worked as a teacher of English as a second language, four years as a teacher and two years as a manager. Now retired he spends most of his time at the computer writing (four books in 2013)and when suffering the inevitable writer's block, climbs on a motor cycle and gets to enjoy the wind in his hair.

Since being in Thailand Alastair has developed another interest in photography and video and recorded many student activities for educational purposes and local events in the rural community he lives in. Where? about 180 km from Bangkok in the middle of the rice paddies.
