A long-time journalist who has worked on newspapers, magazines, websites, books and ebooks, Chmielewski is also a longtime fan of science fiction. He was an attendee of the Clarion Science Fiction Writer’s Workshop when it was still at Michigan State University, and in 2016 joined the Clarion Foundation’s board of directors as treasurer.
Currently a freelancer whose recent work includes science articles for The Atlantic and features for regional magazines, Chmielewski started his own company, TEC Publishing, to launch a regional theater magazine in the ‘90s and to do custom publishing work. He is the co-author of a nonfiction business book, and the designer and publisher of a multimedia e-cookbook now available as an app. Chmielewski has also produced an audio drama, Shalbatana Solstice, a prequel to Lunar Dust, Martian Sands. Be warned, Tom also sings on the short story audio drama, but only as part of a rowdy crowd. Singing on key was optional.
