Claire E. Scheuren

Claire E. Scheuren is the author of The Pink House / La Maison Rose, a bilingual (English/French) historical mystery for middle-grade readers set on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. She is also the author of Bringing Out the Untold Life: Recollections of Mildred Reid Grant Gray, an oral history preserving the recollections of the last surviving government-employed Morse code operator in Canada's Maritime provinces, and co-editor of Talking Through My Hard Hat: Chronicle of a 20th-Century Civil Engineer, the career autobiography of engineer John J. Scheuren, Jr.

Throughout her career as a nonprofit executive, essayist, and educator, Scheuren has worked to support ethical citizenship, strengthen human service systems and communities, and to preserve overlooked stories. Her contributions to human rights, juvenile justice, and civic engagement have been widely recognized with numerous awards, including the Jefferson Award from the American Institute for Public Service.
