Brian Kevin is the author of The Footloose American: Following the Hunter S. Thompson Trail Across South America. He is a features editor at National Geographic and the former editor in chief of Maine's Down East magazine, and he has contributed to publications that include Outside, Audubon, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Travel + Leisure, Men's Journal, and Sierra.
