Who knew that a guy who grew up on meatloaf and casseroles in Virginia could keep up with Cantonese diners who "eat everything that flies, crawls, or swims"?

When Patrick McAloon's chopsticks are not going back for more, he is usually either helping create educational opportunities in the US for Chinese people or dreaming about his future model railroad layout.

McAloon now lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Monica, both of whom are proud to be associated with a university whose mascot is a poisonous nut.
