Ron McFarland Ph.D.

Ron McFarland is a writer who has spent a lifetime in love with the written word. His career began in academic and technical journals, where he learned to explain complex subjects with clarity and precision. His heart has always belonged to storytelling, though. He has written hundreds of poems and several short stories, and his fiction brings a poet's ear to the lives of ordinary people caught in extraordinary moments.

His novel (upcoming) Only a Little Remains is set in the Arizona–Sonora borderlands of the mid-1970s. It tells the story of a grieving police officer, a woman trapped in a dangerous marriage, and a town that would rather not see what happens along the line. McFarland writes in the tradition of John Steinbeck, letting a landscape and its people carry the weight of a story.

When he isn't writing, he is doing what he has always done: paying close attention to the world and to the people living in it.
