J. L. Forbes

Storytelling is drawing a reader into a limitless place where anything is possible. J. L. Forbes is one of those storytellers who empowers the reader to seek life beyond the physical realm. A writer by nature, she won her first author contest in the fourth grade realizing early on where she would place her life's focus. Inquisitive and carefree, she left her Central Valley, California hometown in her late twenties and made a life in the scenic San Francisco Bay Area on a relentless search to find meaning. Not without peril, she discovered a path which inadvertently lead her back to herself.

In 2021 to 2024, the Hawaiian island of Maui became home to the Author, where she had endless experiences of providential love, abandonment, healing, and where she developed new customs like 'Talking Story,' and she understands and expressed how Aloha goes deeper than any ocean, beyond her own reality.

As a single mother of a son and a daughter, J. L. authored her first novel, 'Majestic Wonderbred' (currently under edit - see below for details), which was written in 2011, as a heartfelt gift to her to her two children, providing emotional and spiritual guidance with a witty and adventurous edge. Her books vary in genre and speak to a broad audience.

J. L. Forbes currently resides between the islands of Hawaii and Isleton, California. She is a grandmother, and has begun illustrating and writing a revised series, Titled 'Majestic Wonderled, One Aloha Child' in July 2024, which is strictly handwritten and illustrated in pencil. This will be dedicated to Hawaii, and published in Oahu upon the approval of her adaptation, which includes Hawaiian folklore and legend.
