Barbara Edwards Sternberg

Author Barbara Edwards Sternberg was born in England. She has a B.A. in Sociology from the London School of Economics. Emigrating to the United States with her husband-to-be, architect Eugene Sternberg (1915-2005,) she came with him to Denver. Barbara was awarded a Teaching Assistantship to complete her Master's degree in Urban Sociology at DU. While raising five children, she taught courses in urban sociology and race relations at the University of Denver and Colorado Woman's College. She was devoted to: the improvement of mental health services, advancement of civil rights and educational innovation. She wrote non-fiction articles and collaborated with her husband on articles and books about urban planning and architecture.

It was during the research for Barbara and Eugene's final book about Evergreen, their adopted hometown, that Barbara discovered a forgotten heroine in Colorado's history. Barbara says that writing about Anne Evans was a deeply satisfying excursion into the history of Colorado and Denver, especially its cultural development. Unexpected discoveries about Anne's philosophical and spiritual development came to light after publication. Barbara continues to write about these new historical developments in her Anne Evans Blog (http://anne-evans.com/blog/), and Anne Evans Newsletter (http://anne-evans.com/news/newsletter/).
