Bruce Irving produced television’s This Old House for 17 years, overseeing dozens of complex whole-house renovations, learning the value of quality design and construction, and amassing a wide-ranging set of industry contacts. He’s run his own consulting business since 2006, guiding clients through their own home renovations, helping them build the correct team for the task, and providing attentive project oversight—always with the homeowners’ best interests in mind.
He’s been written up in the New York Times and Consumer Reports; Newsweek calls him "The House Whisperer.”
A graduate of Williams College, he is also vice-chair of the Cambridge Historical Commission, a contributing editor at Design New England magazine and writer for Boston Home magazine,,and a member of the Congress of Residential Architecture (CORA). In 2010, he produced a new TV series called This New House for the DIY Network and is the author of New England Icons (2011), a book about the region’s built environment. He is also a real estate agent at Hammond Real Estate in Harvard Square.
