Lucy Newlyn

Lucy Newlyn, a retired Professor at Oxford University, is Emeritus Fellow of St Edmund Hall, Oxford, where she taught English for thirty-two years. She has published widely on English Romanticism (including four books with Oxford University Press) and is the author of five collections of poetry: Ginnel (Carcanet, 2005), Earth’s Almanac (Enitharmon, 2015), Vital Stream (Carcanet, 2019), The Marriage Hearse (Maytree Press, 2020) and The Craft of Poetry: A Primer in Verse (Yale University Press, 2021). She has also published a sixteen-year memoir, Diary of a Bipolar Explorer (Signal, 2018). She is currently assembling a new poetry collection, and she runs the Hall Writers’ Forum.
