Christopher Witmore

Christopher Witmore is an archaeologist, writer, and former stonemason who was raised on a farm near the border of the Carolinas. He works alongside objects, ruins, and landscapes to understand what becomes of the past and what archaeology can contribute to life in the present. Spanning Greece, Arctic Norway, Britain, and the American South, his research explores changing relationships among land, plants, animals, and human ways of living over the last ten millennia. He is Paul Whitfield Horn Distinguished Professor at Texas Tech University.
