Sharon Ritter worked as a writer, editor, and photographer for three decades before becoming disabled in 2021 from a rare neurological disease, cerebellar ataxia. She grew up in the Philadelphia area and has lived and worked in San Diego, Honolulu, Baltimore, and southern New Jersey. Sharon's first novel, “Night Swimming,” based on summers spent at the Jersey shore, won second prize in the Maryland Writers’ Association's 2008 Novel Contest. Sharon spends her days pursuing her passions of distance swimming, volunteering, and photographing her surroundings in San Diego. Her two now-grown children were the inspiration for “Gabby Gibson: Middle School Detective."
