Jane Brockmann-Fairchild was born in London. After completing her studies in Fine Art and Education, she started teaching in multicultural schools in North London. She became interested in teaching English as a Second Language to young learners. Subsequently, she specialised in that field and came to lead a team of ESL teachers in several schools.
When she moved to southern Germany, she continued to pursue her interest in ESL/EFL by training teachers in Bavaria in EFL methodology. She became a language advisor to the Oldenbourg publishing company based in Munich, as well as an author. In 2011, in co-operation with the Schubi publishing company, she began working on the 'Rainbow Library', writing 30 EFL graded readers, as well as CDs and supportive teaching notes. The result was a series of carefully graded and beautifully illustrated EFL materials designed to motivate young learners from grades 1-6, with mother-tongue authenticity, multiple genres, plenty of humour and visual appeal. The readers' confidence in their comprehension abilities builds through an initially very high word to picture correspondence. The success felt when making a 'good guess' naturally increases their motivation to read more and overall interest in the new language.
Since then, writing and has become her passion and she has taken to producing her own books using Amazon as her springboard. 2016 will see the launch of her first three independently produced books: 'Going up!', a first rhyming ABC book of charming characters, 'Up, up and away!', the follow-up A-Z book filled with wordplay and humour and 'Rhyme Time Circle Time', a methodology book about teaching EFL dynamically from day one. With children’s language learning their heart, her independently produced books come under the name of the 'Spectrum Learning Original Books'.
Jane Brockmann-Fairchild continues to teach from her practice at home, staying close to the needs of EFL learners up to the 13th grade, as well as giving workshops and seminars to teachers within Germany.
