Educator and teacher, writer and visual artist, Arthur co-founded (1996) a private, college-prep high school in Austin, Texas—The Griffin School—which she co-directed for the first three years and also taught literature and composition, oversaw the student newsletter and yearbook, and showed adolescents how to think about their thinking. Arthur graduated from both St. Mary’s University and The University of Texas at Austin. She received a BA in English, history, and secondary education from St. Mary’s, and a BA and MA in philosophy from UT. Arthur has raised two sons, provided (and received) a helping hand to a few other young people along the way.
