A word directly from the author about her book:

"A huge number of influences go into the writing of a novel. Despite the fact that several of my friends may think that novel characters were patterned on them, in truth that did not happen – at least not with conscious intent! There are, however, some elements of Dancing on the Whisper of God that grew out of my experience. For example, the inspiration for the Pomeranian "Miss Agnus" was a red-gold, five-pound Pom named Missy who passed away in 2004 at the age of 14. Missy was as much a member of the family and household as Miss Agnus is the book.

"I also tried to be very true to my experience of meditation. Of all my spiritual practices, meditation has been far and away the most profound and the most enduring. In the book, readers will watch Alexandra go through a very similar process. I can't say how commonplace it is, but it's very close to what happened to me."
