Brian Rabey

In 1978 while programmer for Concordia University's radio station CRSG, Rabey did his first interview with a major Rock group - Jethro Tull - which aired on the station the Monday following the Friday night concert at The Montreal Forum. After that Rabey began to work professionally for first a number of Canadian Music papers and joining what was probably the major Music paper to ever come out of Canada, Music Express from Toronto as Montreal corespondent. After that for the next near 40 years, Rabey wrote for most major US music then film and home theatre publications so that by 2013 he had contributed to over 60 markets and released the Jethro Tull biography "A Passion Play," The Story of Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull through Soundcheck books after a previous contract with Helter Skelter books had lingered after their owner had passed from cancer. The original contract was actually signed and the book written in 2003, so by the time it was released in 2013 it had to be brought up to date and prepared as the band had just begun to fall apart when longtime members Martin Barre and Doane Perry had left the group. Ian Anderson celebrated Tull's 50th anniversary in the summer of 2018 and the most recent story by Rabey was printed in an extensive 2-page piece in The Montreal Gazette on June 30th, 2018 a week before they sold out at The 2018 Montreal International Jazz Festival. A second book has been prepared while working on a memoir of having worked as both an actor and writer since the late '70s is being prepared for future release.
