Jess Provencio

Jess Fraga received a degree in Mexican-American Studies from CSU-LA in 2009. As an avid reader, and a bilingual writer, Jess draws inspiration from people watching. Jess' first published work, "you'll never tip a go-go boy in this town again", an anthology about West Hollywood, is also available on Amazon under her previous name, Jess Provencio.

"I take a different approach to poetry than a lot of people. I don't use rhyme, punctuation, or capitalization. A lot of what I write is character sketches and scene snap shots; by the time you are done reading this poem, I want you to have a movie in your mind of the scene or person that I'm describing. The details I use are the ones that stick out to me, and they may not be what stuck out to everyone else.

One of the things I learned about writing about people is they love to talk, about themselves, about anything. Everyone has a story, something unique about them. It can be a lot easier to open up to a stranger that you won't see again."
