Annalee Skarin was an American writer whose life and work reflect a mystical approach to Christianity, clearly expressed in her book Ye Are Gods. Born in 1899 in Idaho, she grew up within one of the largest factions of Mormonism and was, for many years, a devoted and active member serving as a missionary and participating in leadership roles before turning her attention to writing.
Skarin intentionally never received royalties for her published books. Along with the teachings of Jesus Christ, Annalee drew heavily from the teachings of Joseph Smith Jr., a prophet of the 19th century. Much of her work also reflects Hermeticism and some teachings that can be found in many esoteric traditions. She taught that human beings carry within themselves a divine potential, one that, through praise, love, gratitude, humility and faith accompanied by obedience to divine law, could lead to the overcoming of sin, suffering, and even death itself. For some readers, this message was inspiring and expansive; for others it was unsettling—particularly her assertion that physical immortality was possible in this life.
Because she would not step away from these teachings, Skarin was excommunicated from her church in 1952. Not long afterward, she claimed to have experienced “translation,” which she has also described as a transfiguration, an account that has remained both fascinating and controversial.
Even so, Annalee tarried here with us as she continued to write, exploring the same themes of human metamorphosis and divine identity that defined her earlier work. Today, Ye Are Gods still stands as her most recognized book, drawing readers who are searching for a more mystical understanding of Christianity and the idea that the divine may be realized within the human soul.
The books in this series: Books by Annalee Skarin contain commentary and introductions by Reborn Whitefield (RRSW). Whitefield lives in Jackson County, Missouri where Joseph Smith laid the stone that designates a temple to be erected where Christ himself will visit his covenant people in the future. As a teenager in the 1970s, Reborn was first introduced to Annalee Skarin's books, starting with "Sons of God" by Christine Mercie. Later in life, she discovered that Annalee's books were no longer in print. Whitefield hand-typed all of Skarin's books that were published by Annalee, and after one and a half years of steady typing, Reborn Whitefield subsequently made them available for sale here on amazon. The commentaries by RRSW are included, so that Reborn could include a copyright, and thus, make all of these books available on audible. Without the contributions added by RRSW, these particular books by Annalee would still be considered public domain, and thus unavailable for publishing on audible. I am Reborn R. S. Whitefield, and this author page is dedicated to the name and spirit of Annalee Skarin. I hope you enjoy her work, as well as my contributions. Blessings.
