Alexis Dingeldein

Alexis Dingeldein wrote and self-published six young adult novels through her grade school years. These works illustrate the concept of writing what you know. Her life and worldview at the time live on the pages. Years later, as she reflects, she recognizes four things.

1) Editing is a vital step of the writing process. Don't skip it. If you want to see the consequences of not editing, read her books and chuckle.

2) Growth is good. Her worldview has changed since she wrote these stories, but that doesn't prevent her from being proud of herself for writing them.

3) You have to start somewhere. While having first drafts of novels from middle and high school public on the internet is less than ideal, it may inspire other storytellers to practice their craft. You aren't too young.

4) Becker is her favorite character, still, no matter what.
