The author was raised in Christian Science, and during his formative years was not the best advocate of that discipline. Later, upon reading a book sent to him by his father, a book that a family friend had written concerning Bible history and prophecy, he had two significant healings from reading that volume. At the time he was employed in commercial office leasing (in his 20s) and making a six-figure income (1984), so according to the ways of the world, doing well. Upon reading that book the author was inspired to take a sabbatical from that job (he had been the first employee with the company), and he never looked back.
Living in several different states during the next 30 years, the author made a study of numerous religious ideologies. He became friends with those in Judaism, Mormonism, Seventh Day Adventists, Mennonites, Quakers, Baptists, Methodists and others. He never forsook his Christian background and always was studying the Bible, and having stirring and productive discussions with those of other faiths all his adult life.
Later, he became involved in the independent arena pertaining to Christian Science. There it was that he found how Mary Baker Eddy’s church had violated her directives in perpetuating a centralized ecclesiastical hierarchy. In 1996 he left the membership of that church and has been studying independently, often in a branch church, some-times on a journey alone with God. He has served in almost every position of branch church work, except soloist and organist (and, for good reason!).
He has come to the realization that individual spiritual growth is not always compatible with a “religious” or centralized church experience. The church is a wonderful ancillary to a proper sense of like-minded community and celebration of Spirit.
He has seen how the church and mankind has suffered for decades because of an incorrect view of both our Lord and Mary Baker Eddy, portrayed to the public and through churches. His over-arching goal is to keep learning what our Master has shared and what our Leader shows us, in companioning closer with God and sharing this healing understanding.
