David Brubaker

David Adam Brubaker is a professor of aesthetics and painting in the School of Art and Design at Wuhan Textile University, Wuhan, China. He offers art audiences ways to appreciate contemporary Chinese art and traditions of Chinese aesthetics and landscape painting. His writing is shaped by life in Wuhan, an M.F.A. in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a PhD in aesthetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has essays in Subversive Strategies in Contemporary Chinese Art, Buddhism and Merleau-Ponty, and Feminist Interpretations of Merleau-Ponty; and his art reviews appear in Art in Asia, Kuart, and Visions. He is active as a painter and printmaker.
