Tor Eigeland

Photojournalist Tor Eigeland has had a long and distinguished career travelling the world on assignment for over 60 years contributing to prestigious publications such as the New York Times, Fortune, Norway's A-magasinet and Spain's Rutas del Mundo. He has also contributed to ten National Geographic books including The Desert Realm, Nomads of the World and The River Nile. He is a polyglot and is particularly at home in the Middle East and Hispanic worlds.

Tor is both a photographer and a writer and is also known for his rare images from his time with the (pre-Saddam Hussein) Marsh Arabs of Iraq and his photos of Fidel Castro on his revolution victory day in 1959. Other subjects have ranged from Palestinian Refugees, AIDS in Africa and a Rainforest Study in Brunei for the Royal Geographical Society to in-depth travel features and stories of fine craftspeople such as the Tailors of Savile Row. Tor's final assignment was in 2015 to Morocco, aged 84.

Tor was born and grew up in Norway. He has since lived in many countries and now resides in the UK.
