Kay Hetherly

Kay Hetherly is a writer from Texas who lived in Tokyo from 1991 to 2006. During that time, after two year as a regular guest on Masaaki Ohsugi's NHK radio English program, she began writing cross-cultural essays for NHK magazines and then for the English Journal (ALC Press). She continued that work after moving back to Texas in 2006 and has now been writing a monthly column for Japanese magazines for more than 20 years. Her books are compilations of those short essays, about all sides of life in both cultures, and many of the essays are recorded by the author as well.
