Ann Matkins

I was a Londoner before I emigrated to Australia with my family in 1971. In 1974 , with my husband and children, we became part of a spiritual community that lived in the mountains north of Melbourne, trying to be self-sufficient in a 1970s way. Living so immersed in nature and its wildlife I learned total respect and love for both - even the snakes that were frequent visitors to the vegetable garden. In 1992 I returned to the UK and settled in Glastonbury, Somerset.

I have always had an interest in the unseen world that surrounds us and throughout my life I have been fortunate to have a connection with many spiritual leaders, guides and star beings, their wisdom helping me understand more about myself and my own life. And then there came the time to feel and follow the urge to begin putting their words of wisdom down on paper guided by their encouragement. Their teachings enabled me to see the broader universal landscape of which our world is a part, and gave me the impetus to publish their wise words in the hope they would help others understand what is sometimes so difficult to grasp in the material reality in which we live on Earth.

I have always believed in an afterlife and my first novel was about honouring a dear friend who had unexpectedly become ill and died three months later of inoperable cancer. Being in touch with him telepathically helped me to understand that the afterlife is full of humour as well as Light, and I felt strongly that I wanted to create a light-hearted novel based on what I felt impressed by my friend to write. Currently, I am writing a sequel to "Celestial Ambulance".

I am interested in the effects of karma on our lives, how we react to it, and how little we sometimes understand it. My second novel approaches this subject with the view that whatever our karma we have, there is always a way to put things right and repay our debts at the appropriate time and in the best possible way.

I also write travelogues, which I hope to publish some day when I can stop writing novels.
