I've loved books and reading since the age of five - science fiction, mysteries, some fantasy, and the history of Iceland.
Iceland has one of the most intact early literatures of any medieval culture. (It's been said that an Icelandic peasant can trace his genealogy further back than a French king - and tell more accurate stories about his ancestors to boot.) When I began reading the eddas, and then the sagas, I felt at home.
Since college, I've written. In graduate school, I sold an article. In middle age, I began selling short stories. When I retired, I finished, and sold, a novel. It's an alternate-universe mystery populated by Vikings, three of my literary favorites. No spaceships, though.
These days my hobby is bookbinding and collecting small books. I occasionally write when the muse seizes me. Life is good.
