Denise Rutledge

Denise Rutledge's forage into culinary arts began at 5-years of age. She forgot the salt--something she still does to this day.

With B.S. in Home Economics in hand, she willingly followed her husband to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands for 12 years. Turned down for mission service because neither had Master's degrees, they've experienced two miracles: 5-years' working visas in both Dominica and Canada, based on Gordon's lowly A.S.

Going along for the ride added to Denise's ethnic repertoire. In addition, the special conditions in each location shaped her approach to appliances and other kitchen conveniences.

In 2007, after years of wandering the earth, Gordon and Denise finally found a home in Vancouver, Washington--within a day's distance of most of their family. About this time, she also began writing articles and exploring the world of self-publishing.

Now, Denise enjoys partnering with other authors as a writing coach, creative director, and editor. This has led to her name appearing in the credits for books in a diverse set of genres. She also writes themed puzzle books.

The Rutledge's free time used to go toward disguising their city lot so their typically schizophrenic cat could think she lives in a fruit and berry farm. Then they got a puppy-now 90 lbs. of ditch-digging energy. Their vacation time now goes toward giving their 'rock hound' adventures in nature where her digging doesn't recreate the landscape.
