THANK YOU for visiting my Author page. I mostly write from my beachside home, an hour out of Auckland, New Zealand, where the ever-changing tide, sky, boats and birds feed my soul.

I’ve been a bookworm and historical fiction lover since a small child. (Thanks Gran, for that first book about Roundheads and Cavaliers.) My love of history was further nurtured by my primary school environment–down the hill were the oldest European wooden and stone buildings in New Zealand.

The desire to write books was fed by an early career as a librarian. It was then fuelled by a 30-year international career as a time management speaker and educator, a calling that found me once I’d sorted my own burnout and poor time habits. Eight books on assorted productivity topics (all recently revised), allow me to help far more people than I could ever reach in person.

I’ve always enjoyed writing, but the history bug nagged. Finally, in 2017, I got serious about it. The final catalyst was when an aunt put transcripts of a huge collection of family letters into my hands. They’d been written in the 1800s, between Burnett family members in England, the US, and New Zealand. They were abolitionists and conductors on the Underground Railroad in Cincinnati, Ohio, helping slaves escape and suffered significantly for their involvement.

The stories jumped off the page at me, shouting, ‘Tell our story!’

And so has begun the Freedom Series, digging and delving into the lives of people with a hunger for freedom. You can discover their amazing stories by checking out the titles on this site.
