"I wrote and illustrated What If There Are Monsters In The Toy Box? while awaiting the adoption of our newborn daughter. I instantly started looking through all of the books that I would someday read to her and decided that many simple books for really young children lacked appeal for the person who would actually spend time reading aloud and turning the pages. At the same time, I love the unrefined drawings and subtle intricacies of classics from my childhood such as Goodnight Moon and The House on East 88th Street. This children's book may be filled with the fantastical characters of Max's imagination but the story is real and actually reflects a more modern perspective. Dad uses an iPad and is a full participant in getting Max ready for bed.

What If There Are Monsters In The Toy Box? is a lighthearted look at silly childhood fears that I had growing up. At the same time it delivers the messages of bedtime routine, love, and guidance that every parent wishes to instill upon their children. But most of all it is just a fun book that I hope moms and dads alike enjoy reading with their kids. After all, who hasn't wanted a shark to shampoo their hair?"
