I love making things up, I always have. And I love the sound, shape and feeling of words and language.

I'm not classically trained; I'm not classically anything to be honest. But I love noticing the small creases of life and the hidden impact of the things we do. I love finding new ways of describing a view, a feeling or an emotion.

I have being trying to write since I was young; the occasional poem, a half-conceived idea for the start of a novel or some small, journalistic sports fantasy.

I live in the village where I grew up, just outside Cambridge, with my wonderful wife and our lively, charismatic children.

If anything I ever write has resonance beyond our walls then that's great. If not, then we're happy just as we are.
