Kerry Langan was born in Buffalo, New York and completed her undergraduate and graduate education there. She had a career as an academic librarian before becoming a writer. Prior to the publication of her widely acclaimed short story collections, Only Beautiful & Other Stories, and Live Your Life & Other Stories, and My Name Is Your Name & Other Stories, her fiction had appeared in more than 40 literary journals published in the United States, Canada, and Asia. Her work has been anthologized in: Families: The Frontline of Pluralism, Double Lives, Reinvention, And Those We Leave Behind, XX Eccentric: Stories About the Eccentricities of Women, and Solace In So Many Words. Langan is the co-editor of the Wising Up Press anthology: Shifting Balance Sheets: Women's Stories of Naturalized Citizenship & Cultural Attachment, which also includes her essays on American adoptions of infant Chinese girls and her own family's personal experiences with international adoption. She co-edited the literary anthologies Creativity and Constraint, and Siblings: Our First Microcosm. Additional non-fiction was published by Working Mother and The Philosophical Mother.
