Sean Patrick Murphy

Sean is currently working on a stealth startup in the data analytics and social space and is coauthoring two new books, one a data science cookbook and the other on building language aware data products at scale. He is a founder and board member of Data Community DC, a 6,000-member community of data practitioners, and leads the 1,000+ member Data Innovation DC MeetUp that focuses on the use of data for value creation.

He turned down medical school at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University to pursue graduate work in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He stayed and served as a senior scientist at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory for over a decade where he focused on machine learning, anomaly detection, image analysis, and high performance and cloud-based computing. He has served as a Managing Director for Founder Dating, a highly selective entrepreneurial network, graduated from the DC inaugural class of the Founder Institute, and recently completed Hacker School in New York City.
