Of her 2014 book a recent enthusiastic reader exclaimed, "Brown nailed it . . . Great stuff." Even her first novel, THE EARTHKEEPERS, was an award winner. Her latest three novels are: THE ROSEFIELDS OF ZION; WAKING IN TOMBSTONE and THE ACCIDENTAL GOODBYE.
As the winner of two Utah State Fine Arts novel awards (one of them first prize), the Mayhew Award. the First Prize AML Novel award, a Whitney nomination, and numerous other prizes, she has published sixteen novels, five histories, two musical plays, and five poetry books. To encourage excellence in literature, she established the MARILYN BROWN NOVEL AWARD at UVU, honoring winning unpublished manuscripts $1,000 each year (UVU.edu/English/marilyn brown).
A native of Denver, Colorado, she married a widower, raised his five young children with one of her own, and now lives in the Wasatch Mountains with her husband Bill, two cats, numerous raccoons, wild turkeys, and a swan named Oscar.
